A unique experience that will give you emotions and memories that will last: you will visit the Necropolis of Madau, discover the wild forest of Montes, taste the typical Sardinian products directly from the shepherd and get to know the famous murals of Orgosolo and the silkworm working.
We will start off in an off-road vehicle from Orosei and as our first stop we arrive at the Necropolis of Madau, where you can learn about the history of the four tombs of the giants that still remain in excellent condition today. Our guide will take you on a journey back in time, discovering the ancient world of the Nuragic civilizations, telling you anecdotes and traditions of our Sardinian ancestors.
The tour continues to explore the Montes Forest, one of the wildest areas of the Supramonte. After admiring the wonderful panorama, on board an off-road vehicle, we will climb on foot to the top of Monte Novo S. Giovanni, which rises to 1316 metres in height. This magical place, with spires up to 70 metres high, is a true natural monument full of endemic floral rarities.
You will then have the opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved lunch break in an ancient shepherds' hut, at "Su Pinnetu", where you will taste the typical home made foods of Orgosolo: from the famous Sardinian pecorino, to the smoked ricotta, accompanied by traditional cured meats such as bacon and sausage, boiled sheep and roasted little pig, together with glasses of Cannonau wine, homemade myrtle and Su Filu e Ferru, the typical Sardinian liqueur.
Before concluding, there will not be a missing stop in Orgosolo with its Murales, typical paintings on the facades the have made the city famous as a town-museum which, almost to retrace the traditional art of Mexico, has made the town an enchanting place full of art with 300 mural paintings, a technique that brings with it an ancient story and the tale of Sardinian customs.
Finally, but only upon request, you can conclude the tour with a visit to the Tramas de Seda
Museum House, where you can take part in a craft workshop for the breeding of silkworms of the rare "Orgosolo breed". The silk thus obtained is then woven to make Su Lionzu, the headdress worn by women in the traditional dress of the Sardinian Folklore.
