Many legends lie behind this promontory, symbol of the city. One in particular, which gives it its name, is the one that tells that one day, the devils
attracted by the charm and beauty of the Gulf of Cagliari, took possession of it. God then sent his favorite
angels led by the archangel Michael to drive away Lucifer and his affiliates, but in his escape the latter lost the saddle that fell and was petrified, the
promontory was then called Sella del Diavolo and the gulf so extensively took its name of the Gulf of the Angels.
